Just 7 months after launching Cyborg tips in the US market, FMC announced today that Brooklyn, NY base Jorge “J-Rod” Rodriquez has joined Team Cyborg. Led by former Mosconi Cup Team USA player Skyler Woodward, Team Cyborg has grown from a single junior player on February 1st of this year to now boost a team size of 33 players, 27 of which are under the age of 18.
With an internal corporate policy of “give back what you are given” FMC has built a program describe as mentorship instead of a sponsorship. With their youngest player, 6 year old Pool Wizard Owen Stacy of Pennsylvania an exception, each player is required to participate in weekly events, such as those that help build character or improve on their leadership.
With Turning Stone taking place this weekend, Jorge is at the upstate New York event representing the Portugal based tip brand. “I’m very excited to join Team Cyborg and help promote the products. I was incredibly impressed the first time I tried the tips and I look forward to being a part of this team of players.” Jorge is quoted as saying.
The tagline for Cyborg by On-Tips is ‘The Future is Here’ certainly seems to be the case for FMC and it’s tips as the highly popular tips continue to find its way into more and more pool room and cue shops in the country, but more importantly onto the ferrules of pool players looking for ways to improve their game.
