Leaders need to be optimists. Their vision is beyond the present. Most bosses know instinctively that their power depends more on employee's compliance than on threats or sanctions. The real leader has no need to lead - he is content to point the way. A good manager is a man who isn't worried about his own career but rather the careers of those who work for him. The best leader is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it. People ask the difference between a leader and a boss. The leader leads, and the boss drives.
Leadership is action, not position. You don't have to hold a position in order to be a leader. You do not lead by hitting people over the head. That's assault, not leadership. Leaders don't create followers, they create more leaders. A good leader is a person who takes a little more than his share of the blame and a little less than his share of the credit. A leader is best when people barely know that he exists. This was a email sent to me by a good friend Pete.
For those of you who work with me who am I to you? I have been thinking about this a lot and would like some input please.
Who are you in the billiards industry? We all want change but we all need to be the change that we all want everyday. This is a great way to see who you are and what you are doing in the billiards industry.
